Jason D. Papastavrou

Biography

Dr. Jason D. Papastavrou, Ph.D. is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer at ARIS Capital Management, LLC. Dr. Papastavrou Co-Founded Empiric Asset Management, LLC. He held senior positions at Banc of America Capital Management where he served as the Founder and Managing Director for Fund of Hedge Fund Strategies Group from 2001 to 2003. Dr. Papastavrou served as the President at BACAP Alternative Advisors. He served as a Director of Alternative Investments Group at Deutsche Asset Management from 1999 to 2001. From 1999 to 2001, he was Senior Portfolio Manager at Deutsche Asset Management. From 1997 to 1999, he served as Portfolio Manager for a Swiss family office with hedge fund investments exceeding $1 billion. He has been an Independent Director of XPO Logistics, Inc., since September 2, 2011 and United Rentals (North America), Inc. since June 7, 2005. He has been an Independent Director of BeneChill, Inc since November 2014. He has been an Independent Director of United Rentals, Inc. since June 7, 2005. Dr. Papastavrou served as a Professor of industrial engineering at Purdue University from 1990 to 1999. He is the author of numerous academic publications. Dr. Papastavrou has published over twenty reviewed papers in academic journals. He received tenure as well as numerous teaching and research awards, including the Research Initiation Award by the National Science Foundation and the highest Purdue teaching honor, the Charles B. Murphy Award. Dr. Papastavrou earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
