Biography

Daniel Kübler, born in Heidelberg in 1969, is Associate Professor for Democracy and Public Governance since April 2009. After High School in Zurich, he studied Political Science at the University of Lausanne (MA in 1993, PhD in 1998) and obtained a habilitation degree from the University of Zurich (in 2005). Previously, he held positions as teaching assistant at the University of Lausanne (1994-1996), as well as research fellow positions at the Institut de recherche sur l'environnement construit of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (1993-2003), at the Chair of Forest policy and forest economy of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (1998-1999), as well as at the Department of Political Science of the University of Zurich (2000-2003). He has been a visiting fellow at the University of Montpellier (1996/97), at the University of Constance (2003/04), as well as a the University of New South Wales (2004/2005). From 2004 to 2008, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich. From 2008 to 2009, he was a Lecturer in Social Policy and Social Planning at the University of Applied Science of Northwest Switzerland in Basel. Since September 2012, he is the academic director of the NCCR Democracy.

Research Interest

Urban politics and policy, multi-level governance and democracy, alternative forms of citizen participation, representative bureaucracy, public policy analysis and evaluation (social policy, health policy, spatial development policies).
