Biography
During his 17 years at Covance, Jean-Marc progressed through various leadership positions, including vice president of Global Laboratory Operations and Scientific / Technical Affairs for Central Laboratory Services (CLS), vice president of Global Operations for CLS, and general management, CMC-tox in Porcheville, following the strategic partnership with Sanofi. In his current role as chief innovation officer and general manager Europe for Covance Drug Development, Jean-Marc has been instrumental in helping teams strategically evaluate, select and utilize new technologies to advance our businesses from preclinical to clinical. Under Jean-Marc’s leadership, the central laboratory in Geneva grew from a small operation to the largest fully automated laboratory for clinical trials in Europe today. This achievement resulted in numerous awards, including the prestigious Swiss Economy Award acknowledged by the Chamber of Commerce of the Canton of Geneva in 2014. Building strong relationships with government and authorities locally and nationally was one of Jean-Marc’s many strengths, resulting in considerable benefits to the company. Jean-Marc is also recognized for articulating and developing a vision for the innovation group which contributed to the company’s strategic mission. He continuously advocated for state-of-the-art laboratory automation, advancements in informatics and new services, such as organ-on-chip, biosensors, point-of-care devices and other mobile health devices. Jean-Marc is a pharmacist-biologist by training , ancien interne des hôpitaux, Doctor ès-Sciences Pharmaceutiques and currently Executive Director for the Fondation Eclosion .
