Gary Zieziula

Biography

  Gary Zieziula is President and Managing Director of EMD Serono. He is responsible for all areas of the business across the North America region, which includes the U.S. and Canada, including overseeing strategic planning and maximizing the growth of the organization by driving the performance of the company's franchises. Since taking over as President and Managing Director of EMD Serono in January 2016, Mr. Zieziula has strengthened the region’s overall business performance, and overseen the launch of the company’s Fertility Technologies Division as well as the company being named as one of the Top Places to Work by the Boston Globe. Mr. Zieziula joined EMD Serono in 2014 as Chief Commercial Officer after two years as an independent consultant focused on opportunity assessments for development-stage products, and mergers and acquisitions. With more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and specialty care, Mr. Zieziula brings an accomplished career underscored by his ability to improve company performance. Career History Previously, Mr. Zieziula led the financial growth of AMAG Pharmaceuticals as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to joining AMAG Pharmaceuticals, he served as General Manager, and Vice President of Specialty Care at Roche, where he grew the company’s multi-billion dollar specialty care US portfolio – including oncology, hepatitis c, virology, and transplant. Mr. Zieziula gained international experience serving as the Managing Director for Roche in Greece. Mr. Zieziula has also held multiple senior leadership positions at Bristol Myers Squibb and Merck & Co. Mr. Zieziula holds his BS from State University of New York at Buffalo and an MBA from Canisius College. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and a Management Advisor for Pykus Therapeutics, an innovative ophthalmology start-up company.
