Sabine Österle is currently working as professor, Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering, ETH Zurich.
Research Interest
Sabine Österle is working on the realization of the design and genomic incorporation of switchable proteins on the E.coli genome by CRISPR/Cas9 mediated genome engineering. A switchable protein requires an internal protease hydrolysis tag, however positioning of these tags is non trivial. Therefore we developed a machine learning pipeline to predict internal tagging positions. Switchable proteins can be used for the orthogonalization of cell free system-based production of fine chemicals or to study essential enzymes.
