Research Interest
Graphite micropowder is used as the anode material in most lithium-ion batteries. In order to ensure a good compatibility between the electrolyte solution and the anode material, a carbon coating of the graphite powder is made. The properties of this coating reduce capacitance losses during charge and discharge cycles. This makes it possible to significantly extend the life of the battery. In the near future, conventional coating techniques using toxic and carcinogenic substances within Europe will be banned.
