Biography
A Senior Assistant at the Faculty of Economics of the Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano), . Germany and the German economic literature represent a significant source of inspiration for his research work. Recently, he has focused his attention on the Eurozone as conceived today and on the analysis of contemporaneous economic policies, which also comprise minimum wages, payment methods and reforms of the approach to work in the 21st Century. His research and teaching interests also include microeconomic analysis, which he uses to gain an all-round view of the effects of policy decisions. He has also participated in several scientific conferences at the following institutions: Deutsche Bundesbank, Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW), Deutsch-Italienisches Zentrum für Europäische Exzellenz „Villa Vigoni“, EMEA - The Cash Cycle Seminar (ICCOS), Freie Universität Berlin, Istituto di studi economici e per l’occupazione (I.S.E.O.), Technische Universität Dresden, Universidade de Lisboa, Universität Liechtenstein, Universität Münster, Universität Trier, Universität Zürich, Université de Bourgogne, Université de Lausanne.
Research Interest
Professor Beretta's focus interests lie in the fields of (inter)national monetary macroeconomics, of which he has analyzed historical episodes like the German war debt problem, the ongoing debate on the international monetary order and the effects of exchange-rate regimes
