Biography
Jorge E. Viñuales is the Harold Samuel Professor of Law and Environmental Policy at the University of Cambridge and the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG). Previously, he held the Pictet Chair of International Environmental Law at the Graduate Institute He regularly advises companies, governments, international organisations and non-governmental organisations in matters concerning international law.
Research Interest
He is a specialist in public international law, particularly as it concerns the regulation of the environment, foreign investment and energy. He has published widely in his areas of specialisation and in public international law at large, including most recently The Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. A Commentary (Oxford University Press, 2015), International Environmental Law (Cambridge University Press, 2015, with P.-M. Dupuy), The Foundations of International Investment Law (Oxford University Press, 2014, co-edited with Z. Douglas and J. Pauwelyn) and Foreign Investment and the Environment in International Law (Cambridge University Press, 2012 and 2015). Professor Viñuales has wide experience as a practitioner.
