Biography
Dr. Bernhard Hostettler graduated in Organic Chemistry from the ETH of Zurich where he also performed his doctoral thesis. Starting with Hoffmann-La Roche he became an expert in synthesis of natural compounds acting as herbicides and fungicides. Later he was leading the group of Nematicide Research at Ciba. In 1993 he moved to Givaudan (a worldwide leader in Flavour and Fragrance chemistry). In 1998 he moved to Intellectual Property Management, Competitive Technology Intelligence, and Strategy Planning. From 2002 to 2012 he worked with Prionics (a leading company in production animal diagnostics) where he was responsible for IP management and licensing. He was also a member of the Extended Executive Board and of the Business Development Team. He built up and headed a new business unit for DNA sample taking systems. He is the main inventor of several patents which protect commercialised products in agro chemistry, flavours and DNA sample taking. Since 2013 he manages his own company IPROMA GmbH, which together with partners offers a comprehensive package for professional IP Management. He is in charge of several mandates at spin-offs from ETH and several Swiss Universities. Recently he became a CTI Trainer for IP Management and additionally acts as a lecturer at CTI Entrepreneurship.
