Biography
Takuma Amano started Tandem Advisors about 15 years ago together with his business friends, in order to specialise in the corporate financial advisory services. In this capacity, he has helped early-stage companies both inside and outside of Japan raise their equity capital funds. In addition, he has advised non-Japanese companies in entering the Japan market, especially for the deregulation of the electric power market in Japan. Prior to founding Tandem Advisors, he had been an investment banker for more than three décades. He first worked for the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch in New York after graduating from Harvard Business School with an MBA degree. Afterwards, he worked with Yamaichi Securities, with Credit Suisse and First Boston. He also worked for the Central Bank of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as senior advisor to manage its huge oil-dollar reserves. His last position in the investment banking business was to run the investment banking division of UBS in Japan. He started his business career with Sumitomo Metal, a major industrial company after graduating from Osaka University with a major in mathematical economics.
