Biography
After graduating from the University of Bern (faculty of law) in 1979, Ulrich Zwygart has been working as a lawyer for the Federal Government for almost three years and two years. He has also been working in law firm from 1973 to 1979. Professor Zwygart has been working for the Swiss Armed Forces from 1985 to 2007. As a managing director at Global Head Training and Communications, Deutsche Bank AG, in London, he was responsible for compliance training for the Bank, L&D and communications for the risk division. Since 2013, Professor Zwygart, in his function as chief learning officer at Zurich Insurance Group and member of the leadership team was responsible for the training and development of the 60’000 staff members worldwide and a global team of 400 people. Ulrich Zwygart wrote several articles and books on leadership and management and received the “Swiss Economics Books Award 2007” for his book on decision-making (“Wie entscheiden Sie? - How do you decide?”, Bern/Stuttgart/Wien 2007). His latest book “(Ir-)Rationale Topmanager” (NZZ und FAZ Verlag, Zurich and Frankfurt 2012) was published in October 2012. Prof. Zwygart is on the Board of the Business Law Institute, University of Lucerne, and on the Advisory Board of the Business School of the University of Applied Science Nordwestschweiz. He teaches leadership/management in seminars for executives, coaches top managers in the private and the public sector and is a consultant for various organisations.
