Biography

Fabian Könemann joined IBM Research – Zurich in 2015. He is a member of the Materials Integration and Nanoscale Devices (MIND) group. Fabian and his group use a custom-build, vacuum-based scanning thermal microscope to study heat dissipation and transport in operating nanoscale devices. The setup is situated in one of IBM's Noise-Free Labs, which are among the best shielded nanotechnology labs in the world. Fabian is involved in the horizon 2020 Project "Connect" – CarbON Nanotube compositE InterconneCTs. Fabian is pursuing a PhD degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. For his master's thesis, he developed an NEGF-based Poisson-Schrödinger solver from scratch, to study time-dependent quantum transport in carbon nanotube TFETs. He earned his M.Sc. degree in Physics with excellence from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, in 2015. Fabian spent the first two semesters of his master's studies at Lund University, Sweden. As a student, he was a fellow of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
