Biography
Dr. Gustavo Villares joined the IBM Research - Zurich Laboratory as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in 2016, where he is a member of the Neuromorphic Devices and Systems group under Dr. Bert Jan Offrein. His research focuses on hybrid III-V silicon optoelectronic devices for integrated photonics solutions in the areas of optical communications and neuromorphic computing. Before joining IBM, Gustavo was a scientific assistant in the Quantum Optoelectronics group of Prof. Jerome Faist at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, where he worked on developing quantum cascade laser frequency combs for dual-comb spectroscopy. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), an M.Sc. in Physics from ESPCI Paris Tech, and an M.Sc. in Optics and Photonics from the Institut d'Optique Graduate School Paris Tech, France.
