Nicolas Bologna, born in Monza (MI) in 1988, received his B.Sc. degree in Materials Science from Universitá degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca in 2012 and the M.Sc. degree in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology from Politecnico di Milano in 2014. The latter was obtained by developing the entire thesis project in Abu Dhabi (UAE) within a collaboration among Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (UAE), Politecnico di Milano (IT) and Lockheed Martin (US) with the aim to build carbon nanotubes based capacitors. After graduation, he joined the Electron Microscopy Group at Empa (CH) as a PhD researcher to develope a joint SNSF project with IBM Zurich Research Lab and he is currently pursuing the PhD in Materials Engineering at EPFL. The focus of his work is on the TEM characterization of III-V nanowires obtained with Template Assisted Selective Epitaxy for different applications (TFETs, MOSFETs, solar cells,...).
