Biography
I hold a MSc. in Communication Systems and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, both from EPFL in 2005 and 2010 respectively. As a PhD student, I was performing research in Face Recognition, already at Idiap Research Institute. During that time, I also spent 6 months at Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, where I worked on medical image analysis. After having graduated, I moved to the Netherlands and worked as a R&D engineer at ViNotion, a small company providing custom solutions for video surveillance applications. In 2011, I joined SICPA Security Solutions, where I was in charge of research projects involving image processing, computer vision and machine learning. Now I'm back at Idiap as a scientific collaborator, working on biometrics.
Research Interest
Computer vision, machine learning and, on a broader perspective, the extraction of meaningful information from raw data.
