Biography
Michael Villamizar Vergel is a postodoc at the Idiap research institute. Before, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institut de Robòtica i Informà tica Industrial, CSIC-UPC. He obtained his phD in computer vision and robotics from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya UPC, in 2012. He also received the BSEE degree of mechatronics engineering from San Buenaventura University, Colombia, in 2004. Michael has participated in diverse national and European projects and has worked with other research groups including the VISICS in K.U. Leuven and the computer vision laboratory in ETH Zurich.
Research Interest
Object detection and categorization, robust visual tracking, and real-time robotics applications.
