Biography
Silvio Lorenzetti studied physics, mathematics and astronomy at the University of Bern including an exchange term at the Strathclyde University, Glasgow (1995-2000). The topic of his Ph.D. in astrophysics at the physics institute at the University of Bern (2000-2003) was the determination of the exposure ages of meteorites. During the second Ph.D. (2004-2006), a new method to determine the Young’s modulus of single trabecula was developed. This method includes fluorescence microscopy, experimental mechanical tests and FE-simulations. Besides in 2005 he finished the practical specialized education fitness at ETH. He was Senior Research Associate and lecturer (2007-2013) for biomechanics and sport biomechanics for human movement science and mechanical engineering students. Since 2014 he is Senior Scientist and teaches in different lectures dynamics and movement / sports biomechanics at bachelor and master level in Health Sciences and Technology. At the ifb the research interests are the load conditions of the entire body and the joints during movement and sports. He is especially interested in the field of loading in strength and conditioning, sitting behavior and sports equipment. He is expert in the board of research of the BASPO (Bundesamt für Sport) and in the board of Directors of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS).
