Biography
Dr. Antonella Folgori, Ph.D. is the Co-Founder and Head of Immunology at Nouscom AG. Dr. Folgori co-founded Okairos AG in 2007 & served as its Director of Immunology. Dr. Folgori headed the Regulatory Affairs function at Okairos AG. She has vast experience in immunology and vaccine research for human infectious diseases. She was the leading scientist of the Hepatitis C vaccine project at IRBM until 2007. She initially contributed to disease-specific antigen discovery by phage displayed peptide and then led the work that characterized the role of T-cells in providing protective immunity against HCV. This work opened the path towards the development of genetic vaccines for HCV. Prior to IRBM, she conducted post-doctoral studies in immunology at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology (IGBMC) in Strasbourg, France. She has authored several scientific publications in journals such as Nature Medicine and The EMBO Journal on subjects including peptide phage display technology, immunology, viral infections and vaccines. Dr. Folgori received her degree in Biology and a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”.
