Biography
Dr. Gianni Gromo, M.D., Ph.D., serves as a Partner at Versant Venture Management, LLC. Dr. Gromo served as a Venture Partner at the Versant Venture Management, LLC. Dr. Gromo is the Founder of Gromo Consulting. He served as a Senior Executive with several pharmaceutical companies, Hoffmann-La Roche, where he successfully led research and development teams. He served at Roche as a Research Head of Global Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research, where he was responsible for all discovery and development activities in the CV, Renal and Metabolic areas; Head of Discovery Research, Basel Site; Global Head of the Metabolic and Vascular Disease Business Unit and Head of the Roche China R&D center. Dr. Gromo was a Scientific Partner at Aravis SA and focused on life sciences. He served as a Director of the Biology-Cardiovascular Division at the Lilly Research Laboratories since 1994. From 1988 to 1993, Dr. Gromo was an Immunology Section Leader and then Research Director for Italfarmaco SpA. From 1984 to 1988, he was first Postdoctoral Associate and Assistant Professor of Immunobiology Research Center, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Minnesota. From 1980 to 1984, Dr. Gromo served as an Associate Medical Doctor of University of Milano, Divisione di Medicina II, San Raffaele Hospital. He served as a Scientific Advisor to CSIRO, Baker Institute, Momentum Fund (Ramot / Tel Aviv University) and Integra (Yissum/ Hebrew University, Israel). He has been Board Observer of Nouscom AG since 2016. He serves as a Board Observer at PIQUR Therapeutics AG. He has been a Director at Novira Therapeutics, Inc. since March 25, 2013. He also serves as a Director of Piqur. He serves as Scientific Advisory Board Member at Aposense Ltd. He served as a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at BioLineRx, Ltd. until December 2015. Dr. Gromo holds a M.D. and a Ph.D. in Clinical and Experimental Hematology at the University of Milano, followed by a Fellowship in Experimental Oncology at the University of Pavia, Italy.
