Biography
Dr. Fritz Gerber served in the Federal Department of Economic Affairs at Bern and is a Member of the Swiss delegation negotiating the entry of Switzerland into the GATT. Mr. Gerber served as for 'Zürich' Insurance Company, Zurich since 1958, as General Manager since 1969, as Chairman of the Management Board since 1974 and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1977 to 1995. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Roche Holding from 1978 to 1997, Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1978 to 2001 and has been the Honorary Chairman Roche Holding Ltd. since 2001. He serves as Honorary Chairman at Zurich Financial Services. His other Board Memberships includes : Alpina Insurance company, Zurich, Zürich Kosmos, Vienna, Genevoise Insurance Company, Geneva, Zürich-Agrippina Beteiligungs AG (Holding Company), Frankfurt and Bank Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie (Switzerland), Zurich. He served as a Board Membership at I.C.I. Switzerland from 1967 to 1991, at Alusuisse, Zurich from 1977 to 1981, at Crédit Suisse, Zurich from 1978 to 1996, at Nestlé, Vevey from 1981 to 2001, at Hotel Victoria Jungfrau, Interlaken from 1986 to 1996 and at IBM Corporation, Armonk from 1989 to 1996. He serves as Honorary Chairman at Roche Holding AG. He served as a Director of Roche Holding AG since 1978. He is a Honorary Chairman of the Fritz Gerber Foundation for talented young people Chairman of the Paul Sacher Foundation for contemporary music until April 2006, Member of the Executive Committee of the Lucerne Music Festival until 2004 and Member of the "Orchesterakademie des Philharmonischen Orchesters Berlin" until 2004. He studied at University of Bern and graduated as Lawyer LL.M.
