Biography
André Mercanzini is a medical device startup executive with extensive experience in medical device design, business development, and IP strategy. As the Founder of Aleva Neurotherapeutics SA, he led the development of a novel implantable medical device for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Being pioneers in the industry, Aleva is widely recognized as having introduced Directional Deep Brain Stimulation to the field of Neuromodulation. André received his BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto, his MS in Management Science from Stanford University, and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from EPFL, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, under the wise guidance of Prof. Philippe Renaud. He served on the early teams of Sensimed AG (Lausanne, Switzerland), Zyvex Corporation (Dallas, TX), and held positions at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of MIT (Cambridge, MA) and Bosch Research (Palo Alto, CA). Andre is passionate about improving patients’ lives through the development of novel medical devices.
