Biography
Since April 2001 Manfred Sigrist is Professor at the institute for Theoretical Physics of ETH Zurich. His research field lies in theoretical condensed matter physics. He was born on December 31, 1960 in Sarnen (Kanton Obwalden). He studied physics at ETH Zurich and received his doctor degree under supervision of Prof. T.M. Rice at the Institute for Theoretical Physics. His postdoctoral studies he did at the Tsukuba University in Japan, at MIT in Cambrigde USA and at PSI in Villigen Switzerland. From 1995 he was a Profil2 Fellow of the Swiss Nationalfonds at ETH Zurich. In 1997 he was elected as a Professor at the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Kyoto University in Japan.

Electron systems; their metallic, magnetic and unconventional superconducting properties.
