Biography
Richard Hirt is a retired Professor (Titularprofessor) of ETH Zurich. He was a lecturer and researcher at the Chair of Forestry Engineering. Hirt, citizen of Rheinau ZH and Fällanden ZH was born on September 5, 1939. After his studies in the Faculty of Forest Sciences at the ETH Zurich, he worked at the Institute of Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering from where he graduated in 1969. He completed his habilitation thesis in 1976 and became lecturer for courses in forestry engineering. His teaching, research and advisory activities comprised planning, design, construction and maintenance of low volume roads in rural regions. One of Hirt's research projects dealed with non-specified road construction materials, especially with recycled aggregates.
