Biography

Since October 1997, Theo Wehner has been Full Professor at the former Institute of Work Psychology, which is part of the newly founded Center of Organization and Work Sciences (ZOA) since 1 April 2005. Since October 2015, he is an Emeritus at ETHZ (MTEC) and is currently a guest professor at the University of Bremen (Institut Technik + Bildung, www.itb.uni-bremen.de). Theo Wehner comes from Fulda, Germany where he was born on March 27, 1949. After job training and several years of employment, he studied psychology and sociology at the University of Münster. Subsequently, he worked on the scientific staff of the Universities of Münster and Bremen. He graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Bremen and also qualified as a university tutor there in 1986. From 1989 to 1997 he was professor of Industrial Psychology at the TU Hamburg-Harburg. His scientific work focuses on the Safety-Psychology and Human-Error Research in different technological areas , apects of coordinative an collaborative work, the relation between human experience and knowledge. Central to his research are quantitative as well as qualitative empirical procedures, which are however always set in an actual work situation and in close cooperation with representatives of both employers and employees. Prof. Wehner is a member of important professional associations for psychological and occupational sciences.
