Biography
Werner Schmutz is since 1999 director of the Physikalisch-Meteorologischen Observatorium Davos und Weltstrahlungszentrum (PMOD/WRC). In 2002 he was awarded the title of adjunct professor at the ETH Zurich. He is astronomer, investigating the solar radiation and its effects on the terrestrial climate. He was born on August 29, 1952 in Zürich. Dates of his academic Career: 1979 diploma in Physics, 1984 doctorate in Natural Sciences and 1995 habilitation at the ETH Zurich. He is president of the Siwss Commission on Space Research and Swiss delegate to COSPAR. He is also president of the International Radiation Commission, a commission of IAMAS and member of the Comité consultative de photométrie et radiométrie of OICM. Since 1991 he is lecturer for various astrophysical themes at the ETH Zurich.
