Biography
Dr Schalenbourg works since 1995 as a consultant in the Adult Ocular Oncology Unit at the Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital in Lausanne (Switzerland). Since 2013, she’s taken over responsibility from Prof. Zografos. She trained in medicine and ophthalmology at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and did a Fellowship in Ocular Oncology Surgery in Liverpool (UK) with Prof. Damato. She is specialized in the conservative treatment of intraocular and conjunctival tumors, particularly in proton therapy, in collaboration with the Paul Scherrer Institut in Villigen (Switzerland). She is a senior lecturer at the University of Lausanne and an author/co-author in over 40 publications and book chapters in the clinical research field of adult ocular tumors.
Research Interest
Evanescent vaso-occlusive choroidal pseudo-tumor with acute painful onset: a presumed vortex vein occlusion. Prophylactic use of bevacizumab to avoid anterior segment neovascularization following proton therapy for uveal melanoma.
