Dr. Peter Broekmann in 1971 Born in Koblenz, Germany; 1991 - 1997: Studies in Chemistry at Bonn University (Germany) ;1997 - 2000: PhD student in the surface science group of Prof. K. Wandelt at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Bonn; 2000-2001: Postdoc at the MESA + Research Institute in the solid state physics group of Prof. Dr. Bene Poelsema, University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands (Feodor Lynen Fellowship of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation)'; 2001 - 2007: Project leader (habilitand) at the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Bonn (Germany); 2007 - 2008: Development of the plating chemistry for the 32- and 22-nm Cu technology at BASF SE Ludwigshafen (Germany); Since 10/2008: Lecturer at the University of Berne and the Interfacial Electrochemistry Group
Research Interest
1. (STM) and scanning force microscopy, 2. Additive-assisted Cu electroplating for industrial applications (Damascene process, TSV technology); Synthesis of polymer additives for Cu electroplating; Laser ionization mass spectrometry (LIMS) depth profiling. 3. Additive-assisted Sn (or Sn alloy) electroplating for solder bumping. 4. Electrochemical reduction of CO2 from aqueous and non-aqueous electrolyte solutions (power to gas / power to liquid); Cluster synthesis; DOSY-NMR; Gas chromatography (GC); Ion chromatography (IC). 5. Mass transport phenomena in ionic liquids (ILs).
