Biography
Mehdi Farsi is Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business and Chair of Microeconomics of the Public Sector. Mehdi obtained his PhD in Economics from University of Southern California. He also holds a DEA and MSc in Civil Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Lyon and University of Tehran. Prior to his current engagement in Neuchâtel, he has been a Senior Scientist at the ETH Zürich where he obtained his habilitation in Applied Microeconomics and Econometrics. Mehdi’s research interest lies in topics relevant to the society, where scientific analysis can inform current policy debates. In his methods he favors eclecticism and strives for interdisciplinary approaches. His current research focuses on the determinants of energy demand and behavioral responses to market innovations and new technologies. As part of his research activities, he currently leads the Swiss Household Energy Demand Survey (SHEDS) and serves as an executive board member of the Competence Center for Research in Energy, Society, and Transition (SCCER CREST).
