Biography
Prof. Patrick W. Serruys, M.D., Ph.D. serves as Scientific Advisor of OrbusNeich Medical Company Limited. Prof. Serruys has been Director of the Clinical Research Program of the Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Cardiology Department at Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands since 1980. He has been Head of the Interventional Department at Heartcenter Rotterdam since 1997. Prof. Serruys is Professor of Erasmus University. He served as Professor of Interventional Cardiology at the Interuniversity Cardiological Institute of The Netherlands from 1988 to 1998. Prof. Serruys has been Member of Scientific and Strategic Advisory Board of STENTYS Société anonyme since April 2007. He serves as a Member of Medical Advisory Board of Xeltis AG. Prof. Serruys serves as Member of Scientific Advisory Board of Sahajanand Medical Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Medtronic CoreValve LLC. He serves as Member of European Scientific Advisory Board at Prescient Medical, Inc. Prof. Serruys serves as Member of the Scientific Advisory Board at JenaValve Technology GmbH. He served as Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Stereotaxis, Inc. Prof. Serruys served as Member of Clinical Advisory Board of Cytori Therapeutics, Inc. since May 2006 and also served as its Member of Cardiac Advisory Board. He served as a Member of Scientific Advisiory Board at Orbus Medical Technologies Inc. Prof. Serruys is Honorary Fellow of the Russian Society of Interventional Cardioangiology. He is Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of the Cardiology and Scientific Council of the International College of Angiology. Prof. Serruys is a member of the Editorial Boards of the European Heart Journal, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Circulation, as well as numerous other international publications. In 2001, he held the Paul Dudley White Lecture at the American Heart Association in the USA. In 2004 Prof. Serruys held the 4th International Lecture at the AHA and Mikamo Lecture at the Japanese heart Association. In 1996 he received the TCT Career Achievement Award and In 1997. Prof. Serruys was awarded the first Wenckebach Prize from The Netherlands Heart Foundation.
