Biography
Cathérine Gebhard studied at the University of Tübingen and the University of Western Ontario, Canada, 1998-2004. PhD in 2005 at the University of Tübingen on "Role of renal nerves and salt intake of erythropoietin secretion in rats following carbon monoxide exposure". Research Fellowship in cardiovascular basic research at the Physiological Institute of the University of Zurich 2005-2007 with focus on endothelial dysfunction and vascular inflammation. Specialist training in internal medicine and cardiology at the cantonal hospitals of Baden and Winterthur as well as at the University Hospital Zurich. Additional training in cardiac positron emission tomography at the Cyclotron Unit of the Hammersmith Hospital in London, UK, 2009-2010. Scientific work in the field of cardiac imaging (nuclear cardiology, Heart-computer tomography and echocardiography) at the University Hospital Zurich 2011-2012. Awarded the Echocardiography Prize 2011 of the Swiss Society of Cardiology. From July 2012 working at the Institut de Cardiology in Montréal, Canada, specializing in interventional cardiology and intracoronary imaging. Since June 2016, Cathérine Gebhard has been a senior physician at the Department of Nuclear Medicine and, as part of her SNSF professorship at the University Hospital Zurich, is researching age-related changes in the female heart.
