Biography

Dan Atar is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Oslo, Norway. He studied medicine in Basel and continued his education in internal medicine and cardiology. He also spent time abroad at John Hopkins University in Baltimore (1991-1994) and at the University of Copenhagen, where he later worked as a cardiologist. Dan Atar worked as a senior physician in the years 1997-1998, supported by the Cloëtta Foundation in Cardiology at the University Hospital Zurich. At the University of Zurich, the rehabilitation of the University of Basel took place in 1999. In addition to his clinical work, he dealt experimentally with the ischemia and reperfusion of the heart. After a period as a senior physician at the University of Copenhagen at the Frederiksberg Hospital, he was elected in 2002 as professor of cardiology at the University of Oslo in Norway. Here he works with a large team of cardiologists and clinical researchers, especially in the field of cardiac markers, heart failure and cardiovascular pharmacology.
