Biography
Robert worked in R&D at HP’s telecom division and as European Marketing Manager at National Semiconductors before joining Eurotherm (now part of Schneider Electric) where he became MD of one of the company’s UK divisions. After a time at the Danaher Group, he joined private equity firm 3i in 2000, taking on the role of Electronics & Advanced Materials sector head in their global venture team. During his time at 3i, he participated in over 30 new investments, including four of the company’s first mainland Chinese ventures. Since 2007, he has been a venture partner with Capital-E in Belgium and Idinvest in Paris, and he is on the board of a company with ultra-low power timing technology targeting the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart-phone markets. Robert has a BSc in Electronic Engineering, an MSc in Telecommunications & Control and an MBA from INSEAD. In addition to his native English, he is a fluent French and German speaker.
