Biography

Ming-Lung Yu is a Professor at the School of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University and Hospital, Taiwan. He completed his medical and postgraduate training at College of Medicine at Kaohsiung Medical University, and has worked as a clinician at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital and as an academic at Kaohsiung Medical University since then.   His research interests include epidemiology and natural history of viral hepatitis, and the management of patients with viral hepatitis. In addition to his academic and clinical responsibilities, Professor Yu is currently the Director of Hepatobiliary Division, Department of Medicine at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital.   A board-certified internist and gastroenterologist, Professor Yu is recognized as a Clinical Principal Investigator (CPI) by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators. In addition to his extensive teaching experience gained at the University Hospital, Professor Yu has published more than 200 articles in prestigious journals, including fields of molecular biology, host genetics and epigenetics, viral kinetics, hepatocarcinogenesis and the optimization of antiviral treatment. He is the Academic Editor of PLoS ONE, Honorary Editors-in-Chief of World J Gastroenterol, Guest Editor of Hepatitis Research Treatment and Current Hepatitis Reports, member of Editorial Board of The Open Infectious Diseases J, and Advisory Editorial Board of The Korean J Hepatol. He also frequently serves as the reviewer of major international journals in Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Hepatology, such as The Lancet, Hepatology, Gut, J Hepatol, Clinical Infect Disease, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Thorax, J Infect Disease, etc.
