Biography
Mr. Edward Chang has over 30 years experience in biotech and venture capital industries. He earned a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from University of Wisconsin-Madison and received postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School. Later he served as a faculty member of New York University Medical School and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory at New York. He was also one of the founding members of Applied Microbiology, Inc., which was successfully listed in NASDAQ in 1988 and later acquired by Ciba-Geigy. During his staying in the U.S., Dr. Chang worked under the directions of several distinguish scholars such as Drs. J.D. Watson (Nobel Laureate, 1962), R. Roberts (Nobel Laureate, 1993), O. Smithies (Nobel Laureate, 2007). After returning to Taiwan in 1992, he served as vice CEO of the Development Centers of Biotechnology in Taipei. Since 2001, Dr. Chang has been the president of the China Investment and Development Corp., one of the largest venture capital groups in Taiwan.
