Research Interest
My entire research program can be categorized into two major parts. The first part is to focus on integrating the knowledge in the fields of neuroscience, protein chemistry, cell biology, and cellular engineering. For the most part, the program involves establishing a fundamental understanding of how the protein aggregation diseases occur. Using both biological and engineering tools, my goal is to seek out compounds, cures and preventive strategies for these diseases. Secondly, my lab is working on the subject of “Biotechnology meeting Nanotechnology”. In addition to concentrating on synthesizing new materials on a nano-scale using biomolecules, we are also working on developing sensitive detection systems via nanoparticles coupled with biorecognition systems.
