Biography
Dr. Weng-Foung Huang received his pharmacy degree from the School of Pharmacy, National Taiwan University in 1972, and his MS and PhD degrees from the University of Minnesota in 1976 and 1979, respectively. Before he joined the National Yang-Ming University (NYMU) in 1994, he has served as Deputy Director General (1981~1985) and Director General of Pharmaceutical Affairs Bureau (1986~1989), and Director General of the National Food and Drug Laboratories (1989~1994) in the Department of Health for 15 years. He was twice elected as the President of Pharmaceutical Society of Taiwan (1995~1997, 2007.1~2011.1). He retired from the National Yang-Ming University in February, 2016, and currently holds the adjunct professor appointments with the NYMU and the National Taiwan University. Prof. Huang was the architect of Taiwan’s current pharmaceutical regulatory system, especially in GMP and product registration. He also involved substantially in constructing the drug pricing and reimbursement system under Taiwan‘s National Health Insurance. Dr. Huang has been a key opinion leader to government agencies in the strategic development and investment projects in pharmaceutical industry. His research interests include: health policy evaluation, drug safety, drug pricing and reimbursement in health insurance, health technology assessment (HTA) and development strategies for health care industry.
