Biography
Dr. Hong worked as a research scientist at the Liposome Research Laboratory at the Cancer Research Institute of University of California, San Francisco for twenty years. After serving as a consultant to several biotechnology companies including Nycomed, Salutar, Onyx, and Sequus, he founded Taiwan Liposome Company (TLC) in Taiwan in 1997 and co-founded Hermes Biosciences in the United States in 1998. Dr. Hong has pioneered the study of the structure and function of biomembranes. With his long time devotion to the advancement of cancer therapy, he has achieved a series of breakthroughs in drug carrier technology for improving drug and gene delivery and is an inventor on a number of patents. Dr. Hong has authored and coauthored more than a hundred scientific publications and two social science books, titled "Taiwanese Culture, Taiwanese Society" and "Looking through Taiwan".
