Biography
Dr Diarmuid Murphy is a Senior Consultant who specialises in the management of simple and complex limb fractures, pelvic and acetabular fractures and fragility fractures in the elderly as well as general orthopaedics. His specialist areas of interest is the treatment of complex intra-articular fractures, involving both upper and lower limbs, and their sequelae including deformity and infection and treating fractures using minimally invasive surgical techniques.Dr Murphy completed his medical degree with many distinctions at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1992. He completed his basic Surgical Training and Advanced Surgical Training in Orthopaedic Surgery in Ireland and represented Higher Surgical Trainees on the College Committee of RCSI and Irish Orthopaedic Higher Surgical trainees on the Federation of Orthopaedic Trainees in Europe. He is fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery.Dr Murphy joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at NUH in 2010. He is actively involved in medical and postgraduate teaching and is a clinical tutor for the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
