Biography

Dr Chong Shang Chee graduated from the medical faculty of National University of Singapore in 1998. She obtained her specialist degrees in paediatrics from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) and Master of Medicine, Paediatrics (Singapore) in 2002. She has completed her advanced specialist training in 2005, and currently heads the Child Development Unit (CDU), Division of Development and Behavioural Paediatrics at the Khoo Teck Puat-National University Children's Medical Institute, National University Hospital.  In 2009, she spent a 6 month clinical and research attachment at the learning disabilities clinic of the Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. She has particular interests in autism, development and behavioural issues, and learning and developmental difficulties in children. She is currently heading various programmes in CDU, including helping to pilot a parent-training programme for young toddlers with autism, and the preterm neurodevelopmental follow-up programme. She runs clinic at the CDU @ Jurong Medical Centre. Dr Chong had been awarded the Excellent Service Award (EXSA, Silver) in 2005, and the Best Project Prize in the 2005 NHG Clinical Practice Improvement Programme. She strongly advocates for children and families with special needs.
