Biography

Prof. Bilgi Baca, who graduated from Istanbul University School of Medicine in 1996, specialized in General Surgery in CerrahpaÅŸa Medical School of Istanbul University with the thesis titled “Mechanical bowel preparation before infrarenal aorta surgery; Can it reduce colonic ischemia/reperfusion injury?” He obtained his associate professor degree in 2009 while working in the Department of General Surgery in Istanbul University CerrahpaÅŸa Medical School. He worked as a research scholar in Colorectal Surgery Department of Los Angeles Southern California University with a respected position in its field for one year to gain experience. Meanwhile, he attended all courses and congresses arranged by very qualified masters in General Surgery operations. After his experience abroad, he continued his academic career in his own country. Having obtained his Professor degree in Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Bilgi Baca currently works as the Chairman of General Surgery Department in Atakent Hospital of Acıbadem University.

Research Interest

Management of colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery, robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, esophagus surgery and cytoreductive surgery.
