Burak Ersoy

Biography

Dr. Burak Ersoy was born in Istanbul on March 14, 1978. Following his graduation from German High School of Istanbul Dr. Ersoy has attended Istanbul University CerrahpaÅŸa School of Medicine (English Medical Program) and was granted the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2003. After completing medical school training he was accepted into the plastic surgery residency program in Marmara University School of Medicine Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Upon graduation in 2010 Dr. Burak Ersoy has acquired the title of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist. During the fourth year of his residency program Dr. Ersoy has received Erasmus scholarship and worked for three months at RWTH University Hospital Department of Plastic Surgery, Hand Surgery and Burn Center in Aachen, Germany. Since early in his residency Dr. Ersoy had a special interest in reconstructive microsurgery, breast surgery and craniofacial surgery. In order to enrich his knowledge and experience Dr. Ersoy has traveled to many medical centers across Europe and America. In 2009 he worked in Diakonie-Klinikum Alten Eichen Hospital which is known as the referral center for reconstructive breast surgery in Hamburg, Germany. Later in 2010 Dr. Ersoy had the opportunity to work with two of the best breast surgeons in the world; Dr. Dennis C. Hammond at the Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Dr. Elizabeth Hall-Findley at the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff, Canada. In the same year Dr. Ersoy also visited and worked with one of the leading figures of craniomaxillofacial surgery, Dr. Michael J. Yaremchuk at the Massachussetts General Hospital in Boston and Dr. Oscar Ramirez who is known as the pioneer of the endoscopic facial surgery at his private clinic in Boca Raton, Florida. In 2015 Dr. Ersoy had the opportunity to temporarily work on body sculpturing (postbariatric surgery) at Hopital Saint-Louis in Paris and also on reconstructive microsurgery and breast surgery at St. Thomas Hospital, London for one month. Dr. Ersoy received International Guest Scholarship endowed by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in 2016 and visited preeminent medical centers in USA including Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic and University of California Irvine to work with leading figures in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Burak Ersoy speaks English and German fluently and is currently working to improve his Spanish above pre-intermediate level. To date Dr. Ersoy has more than 40 publications published in international and national peer-reviewed journals. He also has over 120 presentations in international and national congresses. In regard to his scientific research and efforts he was awarded with the “Marmara University School of Medicine – ‘Research Day’ Presentation Prize” twice in 2010 and 2012. In 2010 he has also received the first place and the second place in the ‘e-Presentation/e-Poster Competition’ of the 32nd National Congress of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. Dr. Burak Ersoy is an active member of several professional associations including Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American College of Surgeons (ACS), European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS), Turkish Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS). Dr. Ersoy also continues to serve as a reviewer for numerous national and international scientific journals. In his spare time Dr. Ersoy pursues photography, SCUBA diving and badminton for pleasure and relaxation. He had received various awards in photography competitions held in national congresses. Between 2013 and 2016 Dr. Burak Ersoy worked in Maltepe University School of Medicine Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and also as a faculty member in the Department of Medical Education. Since October 2016 Dr. Ersoy is employed at Acıbadem Atakent Hospital in addition to his work as a faculty member at Acıbadem University School of Medicine Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
