Biography
Dr. Cem Akbal was graduated from Marmara University School of Medicine in 1997 and then started his urology residency at Hacettepe University School of Medicine Department of Urology in the same year. During his residency, he worked for 3 weeks at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee/USA) and at Erasmus University (Rotterdam/The Netherlands) for 1 month within the same period and completed his residency in 2002. Following his residency, he has continued his studies at Hacettepe University, Department of Urology/ Section of Pediatric Urology for 2 years and he became a Pediatric Urology Specialist. Following this, he worked at the University of Indiana (Indianapolis/USA) Department of Pediatric Urology “Riley Hospital for Children” for a year and when he returned to Turkey he continued his studies in Pediatric Urology at GATA Ankara during his military service for a year long. In 2006, he started his academic life at Marmara University School of Medicine Department of Urology as an instructor, he has worked as a director of Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Program for 6 years. He became Associate Professor in 2008 and became Professor in March of 2014. Throughout this process, he succeeded in the examinations of FEBU (Fellow of European Board of Urology), FECSM (Fellow of the European Board of Sexual Medicine) and FEAPU (Fellow of the European Academy of Pediatric Urology) and he got these titles. In 2012, he was appointed to the Head of Marmara University Department of Pediatric Urology and Fellowship Program. As of the date of 1st March 2017, he resigned his duty of Academic Membership at Marmara University School of Medicine Department of Urology, and in April 2017 he was appointed to the duty of Academic Membership at Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine Department of Urology. He is married and has one child.
