Biography
Elif Çelik started her career in 1992 as Product Manager at Deva Holding, after graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy of İstanbul University. In 1993, she joined the Eczacıbaşı Group joint venture Eczacıbaşı-Rhone Poulenc as Product Manager, later becoming Product Group Manager and Marketing Manager at the same company. In 2001, she was appointed to another Group company, Eczacıbaşı Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing, as Marketing and Sales Manager. In 2006, while at that post, she headed the project team tasked with divesting the company’s generic pharmaceutical division and integrating it into the operations of a strategic joint venture with Zentiva. Between 2007 and 2010, Elif Çelik held executive posts at Eczacıbaşı-Zentiva, first as General Manager of Commercial Operations, then as Country Director of Zentiva in charge of both commercial and industrial operations, and lastly as Country Director of Zentiva-Sanofi, following the global acquisition of Zentiva by Sanofi Aventis in 2010. In 2011, Elif Çelik returned to the Eczacıbaşı Group as General Manager of Eczacıbaşı-Baxter. In 2015, she was given the additional responsibility of heading a new joint venture, Eczacıbaşı-Baxalta. In April 2016, Elif Çelik was appointed to her current position as Vice President of the Eczacıbaşı Healthcare Division. Elif Çelik has Strategic Management and Leadership Certifications from various university and associations, including Harvard Business School and Sabancı University. In addition to her membership on various Eczacıbaşı Group company board, Elif Çelik also represents the Eczacıbaşı Group in a number of industry associations. At the same time, Elif Çelik is a prominent advocate of raising women’s role in business and strategic decision-making processes. She is a member of a number of organizations working towards this goal, including the Eczacıbaşı Diversity Inclusion Program, TurkishWIN, Women Corporate Directors, The Women on Boards Program, and the Sabancı University Independent Women Directors Project. She also supports the activities of Young Guru Academy in growing young leaders.
