Biography
He is born on 21.07.1960 in Vezirköprü (a town of Samsun). In primary and secondary school Vezirköprü, Liseyi finished Boyabat (a town of Sinop) and University in Marmara University in Istanbul in 1982. Between 1983-1987, he worked as a teacher at Batman High School and ÅžiÅŸli Imam Hatip High School. He worked as an archivist in the Prime Ministry Ottoman State Archives in 1987. In 1984, he started his master's degree in Marmara University, Social Sciences Institute, Department of Old Turkish Literature. Dr. Completed with Ümil ÇelebioÄŸlu's counseling titled "Herds in Hayreti Divan". Between 1988-1993 he completed his doctorate thesis titled "Hadiths in Classical Turkish Literature" of the same university. Professor Dr. Prof. Dr. Amil ÇelebioÄŸlu started this consultant's thesis on his passion in 1990. Dr. Orhan Bilgin ended his counseling. In 1988, he became assistant professor in 1996, associate professor in 2000, and professor in 2006, respectively, in academic life as research assistant to Marmara University Faculty of Science and Letters Department of Turkish Language and Literature. In 1997, he was in Edinburgh, England for six months to develop and research the English language. He served as a vice-president (1998-2001), department chair (2007-2010), dean of Faculty of Science and Literature (2010-2013) and rector consultancy (2014-) in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of Marmara University, Administrative board members, presidents of department of the department of education, etc. He has held many administrative positions. Professor Dr. Nihat Öztoprak also has scientific board memberships. He has been an External Consultant for Turkish Literature Projects in TUBITAK. The membership of the Turkish Language Institute Science Council, which was commissioned in 2013, is still ongoing. This institution contributes in the dictionary, magazine and project areas. There are board of trustees and council members in various foundations. He is also the founder of two internationally acclaimed academic journals. These journals, which appear every six months and continue to be published, are: The Turkish Culture Review Magazine (since 2000) and the Journal of the Divan Literature Research (since 2008). Professor Dr. Nihat Öztoprak started his career at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University Faculty of Literature on 15.05.2015 after retiring from Marmara University on 13.05.2015. Currently he is working as a lecturer in this university and head of Turkish Language and Literature. He is married and father of two children.
