Biography
Natalija Subotincic has been a professor of architecture at MEF University in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture (FADA) in Istanbul, Turkey since January 2016. She is also an Overseas Academic Member (OAM) of the external review team for the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) (2016-2019). In 2014-2015 she held a VELUX Visiting Professorship at the Arkitektskolen/Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark, and has been an External Thesis Examiner at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada (2004-2009). She has taught architecture for over thirty years at several institutions in North America including: Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada (1986-1989 & 1991-1997); Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, U.S.A. (1990-91); and at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada (1998-2015) where she was also the associate head of the Department of Architecture from 2007-2010. Her key areas of teaching include: First year design studio and visual communications; graduate design thesis; history/theory undergraduate and graduate courses
Research Interest
Her research, teaching and creative works explore the relation between the psyche and physical space, questioning how we individually and collectively construct, experience, and dwell within this territory.
