Biography
Dr. Akgiray received the B.S. degree at Cornell University in 2005, the M.S. degree at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007, and the Ph.D. degree at California Institute of Technology in April 2013, all in Electrical Engineering. Prior to his Ph.D., he worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as an RF/microwave engineer on two spaceflight missions: the Mars Science Laboratory and the Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP). Dr. Akgiray’s research interests lie in microwave circuit and systems, RF/microwave integrated circuits, electromagnetics, antennas and remote sensing. The primary application of interest is remote sensing using active (radar) and passive (radiometer) microwave systems on ground-based, airborne and space-borne platforms.
