Biography
Dr. Elif Karsli completed her B.S. in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Industrial Design at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 2009. During the 2009-2010 academic year, she worked as a preschool teacher in a public school, and then, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for her doctoral study in the United States. Dr. Karsli started her PhD at the University of Georgia (UGA) in the Early Childhood Education Program and graduated in August, 2014. Dr. Karsli worked in a NSF-funded research project with Latino immigrant families and engaged in teaching several courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and supervised undergraduate prospective teachers in practice teaching courses. In March 2014, she was recognized as an outstanding teaching assistant for her teaching at UGA. Moreover, she completed Interdisciplinary Qualitative Studies Certificate Program and interested in teaching research methodology courses.
Research Interest
Children’s embodied mathematical practices in and out of school contexts and family perspectives on early mathematics education.
