Biography
Joy Forsmark has been a technical expert in light cast metals at the Ford Motor Company Research and Advanced Engineering Laboratories in Dearborn, Michigan, since 1999. Forsmark has worked on numerous Ford research programs on the mechanical properties, processing methods, and performance simulation for aluminum and magnesium components in both powertrain and automotive body applications. An active member of TMS since 1998, Forsmark served as chair of the Materials Processing & Manufacturing Division from 2007-2010 as well as on numerous technical and administrative committees. Most recently, she has served on the TMS Financial Planning Committee. Forsmark received her B.S. in materials science from Rice University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in materials science from the University of California, San Diego.
