Biography
As director at the Ukraine's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade Olena is leading the national authority for international development assistance coordination. She oversees a vast portfolio of international development projects and programs totaling 10 bln USD. A media professional, educator and a civic entrepreneur throughout her transatlantic career between the USA, Ukraine and Poland, Olena has been immersed in the two worlds of American and European values, cultures, business and politics. Olena co-founded a consulting company "Global Education Leadership" (www.GELead.org) and its chief executive officer. GELead offers professional traineeships and study abroad programs for young North Americans in Poland, Ukraine and Costa Rica, as well as other education consulting services, such as curricular development, and leadership training. In the USA, Olena worked as an adjunct professor of political science at Adelphi University, as a media liaison at the United Nations in New York. For several years she served as a US-based foreign correspondent for the Ukrainian News Agency and a columnist at Kyiv Post, as well as a researcher on Ukraine for The New York Times. Olena’s publications on the Ukrainian domestic and international politics have appeared in a number of European and American media. In 2012, the World Economic Forum selected Olena to represent Ukraine as the Global Shaper during its Davos forum. She is also a member of Young Atlanticists’ network of the the Atlantic Council that brings together the next generation of leaders from the Transatlantic community.
