Biography
Yuliia Buhlak is passionate about aquaculture and has established an aquacultural trading portal “Aquaculture Ukraine” (www.aq-ua.info) to help Ukrainian fish-farmers improve business performance. Awarded a prestigious Erasmus Mundus+ scholarship, she is currently undertaking a joint Master’s degree in Aquaculture Environment and Society at the Scottish Association for Marine Science. Yuliia has also benefitted from three other fully-funded international training opportunities: at the United Nations University (Iceland); the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Norway); and Legtpa Louis Pasteur (France).
Research Interest
She has a wide variety of practical and theoretical skills in the aquaculture field. She began her career at the Institute of Fisheries of Ukraine as a junior researcher assisting with experiments in the feeding laboratory. She is an experienced farm manager of species such as sturgeon, rainbow trout and common carp. In the future she intends to focus on development and governance of aquaculture in the Ukraine and recirculating aquaculture systems. Yuliia is also an accomplished sports fisher whose achievements have been recognized by the Ukrainian government.
